Tom Palmer calls for more attention on Kareem’s case
November 19th, 2006We’d like to thank Tom Palmer for his continuous efforts to increase awareness on this case.
You can act to help free Abdelkareem Nabil Soliman, who has been detained by the Egyptian authorities for writing on his blog. Regardless of whether you agree with his views or not (he is very critical of the Egyptian government and of Islam), please support his right to express his views peacefully. Please sign this petition for his release. It’s easy. If you want to do more, please write a respectful letter to the Egyptian Embassy in your country. Just a minute of your time can help a young man who should not be in prison. Please take that minute. And then ask at least one friend.
Please think of yourself in a prison cell and how much you would hope that others would act on your behalf.
Thank you Tom. This campaign is stronger because of your efforts.
FYI, Glenn Reynolds has also blogged about this.

I disagree 100% not that I am with his detention but with the fact that being critical of the Government has its ways, even though we know not much will change no matter how much you blog but still criticism is within certain logical and ethical limits …. it is not write to steal from that thief who stole from you or else what is the difference.
Another thing I disagree with 100% is the criticism of Islam … you can repeat the American freedom of speech concept that is in itself complete hypocrisy but if one does not like Islam then he should not be living in a ” so called” Muslim country where most ppl are Muslims and then call the Prophet and the Sahaba names and criticize essential Islamic beliefs and teachings … I think ppl like that should just leave the country because real Muslims will NEVER let them have their way …its pure and simple math … there are many many more ppl who believe in Islam the right way even if they don’t practice it fully than ppl who criticize Islam in what I like to call the “Denmark Way”
And so the latter will simply never win but rather always loose and loose and then loose some more.
Lets see how you take this piece of my freedom of speech ?!

There is this something called “tolerance.”
It’s very nice. You should try it.
