Updating Kareem’s prison address June 5th, 2007

We would like to remind everyone that a few days ago we changed Kareem’s prison address on our “write to Kareem!” page.

Here’s the new mailing address if you wish to send a letter:

Arabic (must be included!)

عبدا لكريم نبيل سليمان
سجن برج العرب
الإسكندرية
عنبر 24 – غرفة 10
جمهورية مصر العربية

Jpeg version (for those whose computers don’t support Arabic):

address_arabic.JPG

English

Alexandria
Borg Al-Arab Prison
Room 10 Section 24
Prisoner Abdul Kareem Nabil Suleiman
The Arab Republic of Egypt

Please consider writing Kareem a letter expressing your support. It’s very important to let him know that he is not alone in his defense of free speech. Please reward his courage by sending him a letter to lift his spirits up.

Note: You can compose your letters in either English or Arabic.

Dear Kareem: I send you greetings from a small country in heart of Europe. 18 years ago all my country was a one big jail. And what happened then? A miracle! Our country is free now. And it is your hope: a miracle of freedom and our international solidarity.

You are a hero of these foolish times. Your penalty is unjust and nonsencial but Free world knows you and your case and it is very important for your release from prison. Have a good hope, we are with you. You are not alone !!!

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Lubomir Stejskal, Czech Republic

    Dear Kareem,

I am so sad that you are spending your 23rd birthday in prison. Please know that you are not forgotten and your pain affects us here in the West. I spoke on Friday with your friend Zainab and have been in email contact with your friend Dalia. I have blogged for you.

I hope and pray for the day when you and all Egypt will be free. My heart goes out to you.

    Sincerely,
    Rebecca

    Dear Abdelkareem,

I hope that all your future birthdays will be enjoyed in freedom. I hope that I will see you soon, outside of prison, and enjoying your rights as a human being.

    Dear kareem

gosh fancy jailing you for writing blogs. How outrageous. I know life in egyptian prisons is probably not that good and certainly not as cushy as english ones. However you are making a very important stand for human rights and will not be forgotten. May God bless you for your efforts and remember to take just one day at a time and all too soon your ordeal will be over.

    God Bless

    Heather

    My dear Kareem:
I honor your courage. Yesterday I placed a long post on the page ‘Naked Truth about Islam’. I hope someday you can read it. One day even President Mubarak will have to realize that you are less dangerous to him than those who attack you. To fear one man so either says that the man is one giant of a man, or that is one very little country. God protect the Egytian nation and keep it from self defeat. Egypt will never take its place among the nations until it lives up to its greatness.

    Dear Kareem,

I have such respect and admiration for what you are doing. Your cause is truly heroic. To stand for what you believe in and not compromise your views even when going through such tough times. You are truly an inspiration to me and hopefully a reminder to those among us in liberal democratic nations how fragile liberty is. Continue being vigilant and good luck my brother.

    Kareem,

I am a 4th generation American. My husband of 20 years is from Alexandria. I love Egypt very much and we own homes there in Zizinia and Agami. My 2 teen age children always boast to everyone here about how Egypt is NOT like the other Arab Muslim countries…it has freedom and human rights.

I was very ANGRY to read about your story in the news and to know you are imprisoned so long. I only found out about this yesterday.

I am going to write letters to our military leaders, some of whom we know personally that have interaction with Egypt's president Mubaruk. And I will write a letter to Mubark also as soon as I find that dictator's address and let him know that Americans are watching him carefully and going to suggest to our Congressional representatives that Egypt no longer be supported with OUR TAX $$ unless you are released from these outrageous charges.

I will tell him that I will be encouraging EVERYONE here in America to BOYCOTT EGYPT, and refuse to spend US$ there in tourism and aide UNTIL JUSTICE IS DONE AND YOU ARE SET FREE.

You will not be forgotten. I will pray for you and God always answers my prayers.
