Video of the Free Kareem Rally in Washington, DC! November 6th, 2009

A rally took place for Kareem today in Washington, DC, as reported earlier here. Below is a video:

We’d like to thank our friends at Bureaucrash for making this rally possible, and for their consistent support for Kareem! Washington, DC has always been a strategic location to hold a Free Kareem rally as the U.S government continues to fund Mubarak’s dictatorship despite being aware of the massive human rights violations that take place under his rule. Indeed, we all must correct this injustice!

Given the irony of Egypt hosting an OpenNet Initiative (ONI) session and the Internet Governance Forum, it highlights the fact we all need to keep Kareem's name in the news.

No man should be imprisoned for his views as long as it doesn't hurt anybody. Shame on Mubarak and all the government officials in Egypt for putting Kareem in prison just for expressing his views. Release him now or go to hell.

Nobody has yet provided a reasonable argument to free Kareem. Why should he be Free? If he's free, then this will create an unruly precedent. A precedent that will create chaos through a small population not following the rule of law in Egypt. This is why he should stay in jail and serve out his term, he broke the law. Yes everyone deserves a right to express their objections by blogging and such, but Egypt, frankly speaking, does not recognize that. Kareem should not be made special, he needs to embrace the law and learn to live within Egypt's freedom limitations. If he cannot tolerate the rules, then that will simply give more reason for why rules that prison people for insulting religion need to be implemented.

Ostentatious support is frankly not going to free him, only his submission to the law will. Good night
