While I don't really find myself agreeing with all of his opinions, I do totally agree and support his rights to free speech and the ability to express them. It say's a great deal about a society that is so shut down it simply can't process or deal with the opinions and views of a few people, especially imbecilic ones that can easily be put in their place by rational, logical response.

Having said that, though, it would also seem a bit silly for people to go on ranting and raving about his particular injustice when A: There are SO many other people/injustices going on right now that deservedly require attention, not just in Egypt but in the region as a whole.
B: He knew perfectly well what the consequences could be and he simply chose to shout louder than before.

I salute his courage in doing so but the expected consequences came and now he has to actually endure what he set out to endure. The fact that it is horrendous is besides the point.... If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. At the very least get out of dodge before the posse comes to get ya. That way you can shout as loud as you like afterwards.

For all those who are tempted to attack me for saying this... I am an ex-pat who has to endure prison in the Middle East & Asia (sorry but I can't name countries) just for reporting and taking pictures of events that I 'wasn't supposed to'. It's funny but I didn't find any net campaigns made for me and I'm still standing.
It would seem to me a better usage of time to simply chronicle his plight and make the remaining time he has left as comfortable and torture free as possible. Not to mention his transition back into society will be a hard one. His real problems are going to start AFTER he gets out... He hasn't got a (formal) education or a job and is now known by the entire country's police force. Any of you hoorah-do-gooders think of that? Are you going to start paying him a monthly wage just for being in prison?... I don't think so.

Part of having the courage to speak truth is being able to handle the responsibility that comes with it. Peace to all.

Levi, if anyone's hypocritical would you mind if we suggest you as the top candidate? How would you feel if someone imprisoned and tortured you simply for making that statement? Kareem expressed an opinion. In no way does that justify imprisonment, no matter how harsh or inaccurate that opinion may be. He is an innocent person in every sense of the word and justice must be served.

Condemned because Kareem said openly what many think. Tortured, denied of your rights. Some people want to make you invisible.

But Kareem, you are not forgotten, your pictures are seen all over the world. Your face is a famous face, the face of a courageous young man, who dares to speaks for himself and for others.

That schmuck had it coming. As for all of those who're in his support, you're nothing but self-indulging and self-righteous hypocrites.
